Pregnant Woman with Mother

Services

The whole basis of care I give is centered on autonomy and empowerment of a woman’s ability to choose the care that is appropriate for her and her family. Your autonomy is of the utmost priority and my role is to support the you in your pregnancy, birth and beyond. Education is crucial in making informed decisions.

How we work together

Prenatal care starts with an introductory visit in the first trimester, followed up by a visit once every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and then every week until the baby arrives. These visits take place either in our Coupeville clinic or your home, and run usually about an hour long. Prenatal visits include any pertinent lab work, vital signs, listening to your baby’s heartbeat, measuring their growth, and checking their position. Most of the appointment, however, is taken up with talking, Rachelle listens and guides or supports you in whatever ways you need while coping with all of pregnancy’s ups & downs.

When you go into labor, Rachelle  will be in direct contact with you by phone and text, and when you enter active labor she will come to your home to offer labor support and respectful monitoring of you and baby throughout. She will stay at your home usually around 3-4 hours after you give birth to make sure all is well. She will complete a newborn exam, tidy up your home, and tuck you into bed.

Postpartum services are a home visit from Rachelle 1 to 2 days after birth, a 2 week home visit for mom and baby, and a 6 week visit at the Coupeville clinic or home for mom only. Rachelle is available for lactation support as needed or can give referrals to specialists. She is always available by phone or text.
